The President began his Tuesday with a live exclusive interview with NTV where he delved into topical issues for at least 30 minutes from 8-8:30am. In his interview, he continued to appeal to Ugandans to take a step and challenge bad governance exhibited by the regime in power.
Immediately after the interview, the President who had spent Monday night in Mbarara led his troops at noon to a journey to Ishaka, Bushenyi. Surprisingly, the police this time round did not interfere with our arrangements. Our entourage touched base at the rally ground in Bushenyi at exactly 4pm.
Several of our officials, elected leaders, artistes and comrades were in attendance.
The President in his message condemned corruption which deprives Ugandans of UGX 10 Trillion annually as per the IGG’s report. The President reiterated that this money is too much and could be converted into effective service delivery if not stolen by corrupt officials.

“I want to ask you to stop supporting thieves in Government. Even if they bring money to you. That is your money which should have been used to buy drugs in the hospitals and work on the roads,” he said. “Uganda has a road network of 36,000 km, but the money stolen every year is 10 Trillion which would have been used to construct all roads including community access roads,” he added.
He furthermore explained to the locals that the money which the regime wastes bribing the opposition leaders is taxpayers’ money.
The money they give to the opposition is your money. The money used to celebrate birthdays is your money. They are going to use your money to keep you poor and finally kill you. So, my message to you, especially young people, you must rise up,”
he said in a speech that was mixed with Runyankole dialect.
The President emphasized non violence as an effective means of regime change, relating events in neighboring Kenya.
“Raise up nonviolently. In our generation, we do not believe in killing people but know that if we stand together, it is possible. The people’s power is very strong. That is why we came here peacefully even though they denied us a chance to appear on a radio talk show….There will be a new Uganda where there is equality and equal opportunities. You can be a Munyankole, an Acholi, a Musoga but we must be in a country that treats us equally,” he remarked.

The #NUPCountryWideTour2 will proceed today in Rukungiri district, Ntungamo tomorrow, and Isingiro district on Friday.
